Jerry Seinfeld's Mumbai performances cancelled due to 'parking' issues

The Emmy and Golden Globe winning comedian was set to perform two live shows on the 14th and 15th of March at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium, Mumbai. The show would have marked Seinfeld’s first ever performance in Asia.

The much awaited live performance of comedian Jerry Seinfeld has been cancelled, Stage42 festival announced on Friday. A day before the performances were scheduled to take place in Mumbai, Stage42 made the announcement in a statement released on Facebook and Twitter. The cancellation of the shows was attributed to 'issues related to traffic and parking at the venue'.

The organisers said they regretted the cancellation and promised a full refund of tickets to buyers. 

Jerry Seinfeld joined the line-up of the already underway Stage42 festival on February 11. The Emmy and Golden Globe winning comedian was set to perform two live shows on the 14th and 15th of March at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium, Mumbai. The show would have marked Seinfeld’s first ever performance in Asia. The comedian is best known for the successful comedy series Seinfeld, created with fellow comedian Larry David. 

Seinfeld's scheduled performance was being viewed with particular interest in the light of the case filed against the comedy group AIB for their infamous roast show. Many wondered how far the comedian would go in his stand up act and which group's ire he would draw.


The announcement of his cancelled performances has drawn mixed reactions on Twitter. But the irony of 'parking' issues resulting in the cancellation was not lost.
