Janet Jackson has advised Whitney Houston’s daughter on how to deal with the grief over the death of a loved one.

Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, 18, had a “complete breakdown” after her mother was found dead in her hotel room on Saturday, and had to be briefly hospitalized twice.

“You have to come to terms at some point. You have to actually give it up to God,” People magazine quoted her as telling Anderson Cooper for an interview airing Monday on his talk show.

“It sounds so mean, but you have to move on. You can’t hold onto that because it can be very devastating.

“Sometimes therapy is the best thing,” she said.

Janet Jackson, who is still grieving the death of her brother Michael Jackson in 2009, acknowledges that there is something unique about the tragedy of losing one’s mother.

“I lost my brother, she lost her mother. There’s a difference… I don’t know what that’s like being so young,” she said.

“There’s never a day, not one day has gone by where I don’t think about my brother.

“You have to go on with life. You figure out a way to move on,” she added.
