Bahrain is a small island state, consisting of a chain of around 30 islands, located near the western shores of the Persian Gulf. It is described as an island paradise for its relaxed social environment.

And visiting Bahrain is like going back home for actor Jacqueline Fernandez. Having spent a major part of her childhood and teenage years there, Jacqueline recently made a short trip to visit her old school friends and family — main agenda being spending some quality family time.

Jacqueline reminisces about the fond memories she had while growing up in Bahrain, “Bahrain is warm and friendly, people always carry a smile and the island is always sunny and full of things to do. We used to have campfires, go all out on desert safaris, pack in tikkas and shawarmas,” she says.

Though the country has gone through many changes since her last visit, the actor believes that its slowly recovering from the political problems it had. And she maintains that the best time to visit Bahrain is the Grand Prix time, “Grand Prix is the most awaited event of the year. The ambience out there is crazy during that time, the island lights up especially for it with an influx of over two lakh Grand Prix followers, giving it the most amazing buzz,” she adds.

This time around, Jacqueline managed to visit her favourite places as well. She says, “I paid a visit to the Ritz beach and had a gala time. I also dined at Mirai for its delicious Japanese cuisine. The Sofitel spa was where I went to pamper myself, help unwind and gain complete relaxation.” The actor also points out that the place to visit in Bahrain is the major tourist landmark, the Tree Of Life. She explains, “Locals believe that this place marks the location of the Garden of Eden, it’s a beautiful experience spending time at the Tree Of Life.”

Lastly, the actress reveals that she got dates and pistachios back from Bahrain, as the best selection, quality and variety of the same is found there. Jacqueline also lists three things that one must do when in Bahrain — visit the tree of life, experience Formula 1, and water sports on one of the many beautiful beaches.
