More than films, Hindi actor Geeta Basra has been in the news for her rumoured relationship with cricketer Harbhajan Singh. But as we sat down for a chat with the pretty lady, who was in town recently, we realised that her current love interest is nothing but films! She, in fact, says that it was her very commitment to her career that saw her take a break post The Train, in which she was seen with Emraan Hashmi. “It’s been five years since I appeared on screen. And I am really excited about my comeback. So the only special thing in my life right now is films. I rather not talk about anything else,” says Geeta shying away from discussing her personal life.

Quiz her about her future projects and she’s all charged up. “I am totally kicked about this comedy called Calling Mr Joe B Carvalho. It will bring out the actor in me. It’s not that I wasn’t offered roles after The Train. I just didn’t want to get repetitive. Calling Mr Joe... presented me with an opportunity to try my hand at comedy so I decided to do it,” the actor adds. And as the conversation continues, she says it was real fun shooting for the film as well. “It’s not easy to make people laugh. But with actors like Javed Jaffrey and Arshad Warsi on the sets, even you’d get your comic timing right,” she says.

Geeta will be seen with Arshad in a special number in the film Zilla Ghaziabad as well. Will we see her in more item songs then? “Given that our industry is known for songs and dance, I don’t understand why people fuss so much over item numbers. At least, I have no qualms about being part of a song that would add value to the film or make it even more popular,” she explains. It’s also been reported that Geeta will be part of the sequel to the 2005 multi-starrer Dus. But “it’s too early to talk about that film” is all what the actor was willing to say.

How about making a foray into South Indian films? “I have been told that I can pass myself off as a South Indian, so why not?” While on the topic of South India, she tells us how she fell in love with Bangalore all over again while shooting for Calling Mr Joe B... “The city has an international feel to it. Maybe I’ll own a place here sometime,” Geeta signs off.
