Isha Sharvani is all set to perform a contemporary dance ballet Shiv Shakti  at NCPA, Mumbai this month. It is influenced by Kathak, Kalaripayattu, Malkambh and aerial dance sequences.

Says Isha, “It’s a culmination of 15 years of training  in dance.” What’s more interesting is that the entire sequence has been choreographed by her mother Daksha Seth to music composed by her brother and directed by her father.

“A journey of an artist, it’s truly a family affair,” smiles the actress whose parents set up a remote dance school in Kerala 20 years ago. Isha learnt dance in a gurukul-like atmosphere with her mother, while her brother and father concentrated on music.

“We train students who really want to become good artists and follow a strict schedule. We start at 8.30 in the morning and finish at 4.30 in the evening,” informs Isha, who trains for few more hours after that. “Dance is my guiding light, it’s a spiritual experience,” says the actress.

That probably has helped Isha through her chequered film career. Having made her debut in Subhash Ghai’s Kisna, Isha went on to do a few forgettable films like Darwaza Bandh Rakho, Good Boy Bad Boy, etc.

“Some films were good, some could have been better,” philosophises Isha, who was last seen in the TV  show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.  Pegged as one of the favourites to win, Isha backed out of the show when she had a fall.

“I hope I did not let down people who had voted for me and got me so far, but it was impossible for me to dance because not only did I have  a broken hand,  I injured myself badly when I fell. My family was worried for my safety and I had to resign from the show,” explains the actress.

Besides her dance performance, Isha will soon be seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s David opposite Vikram.

She has also signed a Malayalam film. “I loved the scripts of both the films and am ready to explore Bengali cinema too. I want to do quality work,” says the nimble footed actress who was talked about for her dance with Hrithik Roshan in Luck By Chance.
As to her on-off relationship with cricketer Zaheer Khan, Isha says that right now she is “fabulously single.”

“We never speak about our relationship out of respect for each other,” she quips.
