Is Cuba the new shooting destination for 'Fast and Furious 8'?

Filmmaker F Gray Gray is planning to shoot a scene from upcoming Fast and Furious 8 in Cuba.

The director of the eighth installment of the Fast and Furious movie series, thought of filming in the previously embargoed nation, after he returned from a scouting trip across the area, said The Hollywood Reporter.

"Universal Pictures is currently in the process seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the 'Fast & Furious' series in Cuba," read a statement from the studio.

Furious 8 will see Vin Diesel returning as the lead. He will be joined by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ludacris, with Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham and Kurt Russell expected to return.

The film will be released in North America on April 14, 2017.
