Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay trailer left the industry stunned. He plans to release at least four more promos in the run-up to the release (October 28), giving the audiences an insight into the emotional angle of the story.

Says a source. “Ajay’s character is shown as the modern-day Shiva, the destroyer. What AJ deliberately did in the first trailer was to keep the story under wraps.” But a little birdie says that Shivaay is loosely inspired by the Hollywood movie Taken. “Ajay plays a father to Abigail Eames, who gets abducted. How Ajay destroys everyone who tries to stop him and how he rescues his daughter is what forms the core idea of the film.”

The plot does sound similar to Taken. In the Hollywood film that released in 2008, Liam Neeson played a similar character who’s a CIA operative and his daughter gets kidnapped. It’s all about how Neeson finally tracks down his daughter’s whereabouts and nails the culprits. Coincidence much?

However, Ajay claims, “Shivaay is an emotional drama. The idea came from an article on a real-life story, we read. We were moved by the article. This picture is from that thought process. We did not follow it, rather that was our inspiration.”
