After completing his shoot for Jurassic World, Irrfan is set to star in a television miniseries (shot mainly in English), based on World War II. Japan's national public broadcaster, Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK), Canada's Don Carmody Television and FATT Productions in the Netherlands are co-producing. The actor's wife Sutapa Sikdar negotiated the deal on his behalf.

Says a source, "The miniseries, revolving around a decade-long investigation into events in the Pacific during and after WWII, is being directed by Michael McGowan and Pieter Verhoeff. Shooting begins early next year in Japan. The show airs in August 2015, in time for the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. Other actors will be cast from Japan, North America and Europe. Irrfan is waiting for the deal to be finalised and is expecting the producers of the miniseries to make a formal announcement after that."

Irrfan confirms, "I have been approached for the miniseries, but I can't talk about it right now."
