Showcasing the new trends in cinema across the world, the city will host 'International Forum of New Cinema' from tomorrow.

Organised by country's oldest and biggest film club Cine Central, the seven-day festival will give the cinema fans the pleasure of viewing representative works of different genres across the world.

"Our festival is a platform for filmmakers experimenting with celluloid/digital media as we pay special attention to focus on the films of those countries which are not commercially screened in India," General Secretary, Cine Central, Parimal Mukherjee said.

Mexican film "Las Horas Muertas" (The Empty Hours) will be the inaugural film to be screened tomorrow. It is directed by noted Mexican film maker Aaron Fernandez Lesur.

Over 30 films from 22 countries including Indonesia, Germany, Mexico, China, Denmark, Bangladesh, Cuba besides India - will be screened at the festival, called 'a platform for New Cinema, Different Cinema and Other kind of Cinema'.

Cuban film "Boccaccio in Havana" by Arturo Sotto and "Key House Mirror" from Denmark (Michael Noer) are part of the package.

"We have always believed this film festival should play a key role in creating an audience which will be more receptive to independent works of young and creative filmmakers throughout the globe," he said.

West Bengal Information and Cultural Affairs minister Indranil Sen will inaugurate the festival tomorrow in presence of Justice (Retired) Shyamal Kumar Sen and Director Gautam Ghosh.

'Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award' will be given to a veteran film actress on the occasion.
