With six star kids being launched in this year, After Hrs explores the world of insiders vs newcomers with no filmi connection.

Six star sons/daughters will be launched this year. Actors have stopped launching their children with home productions, but kids from film background are launched by industrywallahs, Like Karan Johar launched Alia Bhatt, Sajid Nadiadwala is introducing Tiger Shroff and Salman Khan is giving a break to Suraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.Meanwhile, it is only Adiyta Chopra who is launching newcomers with no filmi connection.

The insiders versus outsiders battle of Bollywood has been going on for many decades now. Being born into a filmi family gives you the advantage of knowing the who's who of the film world. And that is you ticket, which allows you to jump the queue and land directly on the big screen. here's looking at whether the film industry is still ruled by the privileged film kids, if the outsiders are getting a fair chance and whether the field is levelling out.

Here are some interesting things that out research threw up

The South industry seems to be more accepting of newcomers. Mumbai girls Kajal Aggarwal, Tamannaah Bhatia both made their debut down south and had quite a few hits under their belt before they made their Bollywood debut. Both girls made their debut opposite Ajay Devgn – Kajal in Singham and Tamanaah in Himmatwala. And both girls did their second movie with Akshay Kumar – Kajal's Special 26 and Tamannaah's It' s Entertainment. Goa girl Ilena too opted for the Southern detour before signing Barfi.

Models, who were once shunned as non actors, find it much easier to bag debut projects today. Be it Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Ilena D'Cruz, Diana Penty, Siddharth Malhotra, their experience with the camera came in handy when it came to making their Bollywood debut.

While earlier it was natural for the father to launch his son (sometimes daughter) on the screen, the trend has changed off late. Most star kids have been launched by other production houses these days. Tusshar Kapoor was launched by Vashu Bagnani and not dad Jeetendra, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor were launched by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and not by their famous parents. Today most kids from film families are looking to other production houses for their debut vehicles. The good ties that their families have with the industry folk come in handy here. Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya is being launched by his good friend Salman Khan, while Sajid Nadiadwala is launching Jackie Shroff's son Tiger. Anil Kapoor's nephew Mohit Marwah is being launched by Akshay Kumar in Fugly, while his son Harshavadhan has found a mentor in Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra. Kareena Kapoor Khan's husband Saif Ali Khan is producing a film for her cousin Armaan Jain.

Salman Khan has become the talent spotter in the industry. Be it industry kids (Sonakshi Sinha, Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty) or newbies with out any comnnections (Zarine Khan, Daisy Shah, Pulkit Samrat), the actor is keen to give the freshers a chance. His proteges don't always hit the bull's eye, but they do get a fantastic launchpad.
