In what is touted as the biggest festival in radio history, Indian radio jockey Malishka, host of the popular breakfast show Morning No. 1,  will be representing the nation at the International Radio Festival in Zurich, Switzerland this September.

“I am totally excited and can’t wait to host a show in Zurich,” says an ecstatic Malishka. Along with her show producer, Naheed, she will host a “live” show from the magnificent castle of Schloss Sihlberg to entertain the global audience in her local style, backed with Indian music. The show will simultaneously be aired on the radio station in India. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to represent India on an international platform and to an international audience,” added Malishka, who has been entertaining listeners over radio for almost seven years now.

Slated to be held from September 12 to 16, the festival will see Malishka host a live show in her trademark desi style. The International Radio Festival (IRF) is the first ever festival to celebrate contemporary music radio that aims at bringing together music radio aficionados and providing them with the rare opportunity to listen to sounds from across the globe on one single channel.

Malishka was chosen as the Indian representative following a thorough selection process that included a contest called ‘Sound of India’ (in association with IRF and Swiss Tourism) to decide the winner. And Malishka — who’s already had more than 13 awards in her kitty, emerged as the clear winner from over 135 entries including radio jockeys and radio show producers belonging to around 70 private and public FM radio stations across India.
