Singer, song writer Norah Jones – who will be on her maiden India tour early next month – is all set to perform at the Oscars tonight. The Grammy Award-winning singer will perform the song ‘Everybody Needs A Best Friend’ from the soundtrack of the movie Ted, which also features Norah. The track was co-written by Norah and good friend Seth MacFarlane, the director of Ted and also the host for the 85th Academy Awards ceremony in LA. The track has been nominated in the Best Original Song category.

“I’m excited. I think it’ll be really fun. It’s a really cool, unique experience for me to get to perform the song at the Oscars because Seth is hosting and he’s my friend,” says Norah, as she further adds, “To get to be a part of his film is super fun, but for him to be hosting and for me to still get to go and perform with my buddy hosting, that’s super fun! I’m excited.”

The songstress will kickstart her India tour with a headlining performance at the newly curated music festival A Summer’s Day in Mumbai (March 3), followed by gigs in New Delhi and Bangalore. She will be supported by singer-songwriter M.Ward. Said Norah, “I hope that we’ll have a lot of fun at the shows, and that everyone else is as excited as I am!”
