Though Rakesh Roshan has announced Krrish 4 and has directed three films in the franchise —Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish and Krrish 3 starring his son Hrithik Roshan — according to an insider,  he doesn’t want to helm the fourth installment of the superhero film.  For the fourth film, sources say the filmmaker is looking for another director.  Roshan Sr says, “It’s too early to speak about Krrish 4 as I am still on the script level.” Nevertheless, here we give our pick of four directors who can helm the superhero film.

Nitesh Tiwari:

His first venture was the children’s film Chillar Party which he co-directed. The film was highly acclaimed and a commercial success. His next directorial,  Bhootnath Returns was a supernatural political comedy that gave out a strong social message. It had Amitabh Bachchan playing a ghost and a boy who can see him as one. It was a box-office hit. His last release Dangal based on a true story is realistic with a nice blend of emotions and grit, something that works perfectly for a superhero film like Krrish 4.

Shekhar Kapur:

No matter how many superhero films are made, Kapur’s classic sci-fi, Mr India in which Anil Kapoor becomes invisible thanks to a gadget, was a full-on entertainer. It made you laugh and at the same time tugged at your emotions. Even the villain Mogambo (Amrish Puri) was unique and is remembered till date. In fact, Kapur was all set to work with Hrithik in Paani earlier, but that fell through. Krrish 4 can not only bring the two together, it can be the best comeback vehicle for Kapur.

Sanjay Gadhvi:

He has already directed two hit franchise films: Dhoom and Dhoom 2. The latter starred Hrithik and was a blockbuster. Sanjay is known for his high octane action and chase sequences. In fact, in Dhoom 2 Hrithik was no less than a superhero with his smooth con acts. The film also had some power-packed VFX that turned out to be one of the highlights. Sanjay’s last directorial Ajab Gazzab Love didn’t fare well but Krrish 4, which requires action and VFX might just be the one that will bring him back to his forte.

Anshai Lal:

He’s a newbie and is making his directorial debut with Phillauri that has Anushka Sharma playing a friendly ghost. If the trailers are anything to go by, the film looks like a winner with a mix of humour, emotions and VFX. Three ingredients that a fantasy film like Krrish 4 requires.
