When we heard that Arshad Warsi, along with a whole bunch of Bollywood actors were in town, we were surprised we didn’t know this piece of information earlier. They were, after all, in town for more than a week or so, shooting within the environs of the Bangalore Palace. So, when the opportunity to meet this cast arose, we obviously jumped at it, and hence this rather casual tête-à-tête with Arshad, who claimed, while we conversed, that he looked like ‘death’.

“We’ve been shooting all day, I am super tired, but the Bangalore weather just seems to make me forget all these woes. How I envy you’ll for this weather, man,” opens Arshad, sipping on a drink at this popular open air sky-high bar.

“I have always loved Bangalore and don’t think twice to come to the city and so when I heard that most of Calling Mr Joe B Carvalho’s shooting schedule was in Bangalore, I secretly rejoiced,” Arshad adds.

Quickly getting into the mood of the conversation we ask Arshad about the role he plays. “Well, surprisingly I can tell you, that I play the role of a private detective and hence this unshaven, bearded look. While I love being like this, the fact that nobody recognises me can sometimes be a problem,” Arshad explains.

And how long more will the cast be in Bangalore, we quickly add... “for a few more weeks, after which we’ll probably head to Goa as the story revolves round these two regions,” Arshad replies adding that the film is a comedy.

But this isn’t your first time in Bangalore, is it? “No, no way... I’ve come to Bangalore even as a dancer and as a theatre-person, much before my film career. Of course, Bangalore was very different then, it wasn’t an IT hub and there wasn’t a Ranga Shankara for theatre buffs. This city always makes me want to get back to that old life,” Arshad reminisces.

So, does he miss being in theatre, we ask Arshad in conclusion... “Of course! I do and I would love to get back into theatre. So much so, I hope to turn director soon, once I get some time on hand and believe me, once I turn director there shall be no turning back,” concludes Arshad as camera flashes go off in quick succession.
