When music director Pritam asked singer Tushar Joshi to compose Allah Duhai for Salman Khan’s Race 3, the latter was ‘just giving it a shot’. He also admits that he put the song at the back of his mind because of other projects. “After it released and trended that it hit me what a big deal it was,” Tushar chuckles. However, he is not hogging the credit for the track, “It’s a Salman Khan movie and the song is already big since Race and Race 2, so it was going to be received well,” he points out. Revisiting an already popular number didn’t make him nervous, thanks to his professional association with the original tune’s composer, Pritam, and his A&R venture, JAM8. “I have seen how he approaches a song. Also, the producers already gave me a brief about the mood they wanted the number to be in,” the debutante composer offers.

Originally a playback singer, Tushar sang for Ranbir Kapoor in Jagga Jasoos (2017) and also crooned Phurr in Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017) along with Mohit Chauhan. Allah Duhai is his first Bollywood composition but may not be the last one. “I will keep singing but won’t actively seek composing or writing projects. But if I get an opportunity, I might do it because I want to present music to the audiences in any medium I can.” he says.

In the next one year, Tushar has a number of Bollywood songs to look forward to other than projects for JAM8. This has led to Tushar putting his YouTube channel, which shot him to fame, on a back burner for the last two odd years. “I plan to revive it. So, there will be film and non-film songs releasing every fortnight or so, soon,” he signs off.
