Actor Vijay's house, along with other Tamil film personalities' house, was raided by the Income Tax department (I-T) officials since Wednesday. More than Rs. 300 crore was recovered from them in the recent searches. Around 38 premises were covered in the raid and Rs. 65 crore were recovered previously.

"Income Tax searches in premises linked to various Tamil film personalities in Tamil Nadu has led to the concealment of income estimated to be in excess of Rs 300 crore," read the official statement from the I-T department.

Moreover, unaccounted cash of about Rs. 77 crore was seized from the premises of a Tamil film financier. According to ANI, the cash belonged to producer Anbu Chezhiyan. Reportedly, the property of GS Cinemas was also raided in Madhurai, Tamil Nadu.

A source also went on to tell PTI that the searches were conducted after the I-T department received a tip-off following the success of Vijay's film 'Bigil'. The movie had minted Rs. 300 crore at the Box Office. According to a report in NewsMinute, I-T officials reached the Neyveli coal mines and escorted Vijay out while he was shooting for his upcoming film 'Master' with Vijay Sethupathi.
