When you stir Neeta Gupta, you always get fire. And this time this firebrand lady always known for following her own rules than the ones laid down on her by the society, candidly admits that she never intended to be the person that she has become now.

“Looking back, I realise that I have made a few mistakes in my personal life which branded me as a particular person. But I can tell you that I was always a shy person who always aspired to be a glamour doll and could never become one. I fell in love and fell out of love. And before I could realise, my life had become fodder for the public,” says Neena.

Standing at a juncture of life when she hates getting all ‘mommy roles’ in TV serials, Neena admits that she had once made a terrible mistake in her life which she would like to change if she had a time machine. Though she doesn’t spell it out, Neena might be hinting about her affair with Sir Vivian Richards and the consequences that spiralled out of control.

“Yes, I do have regrets in my life. Instead of what I did earlier, I should have got married at the right age and should have got children. Instead, my life started taking twists and turns and in most of the cases, it was beyond my control. Yes, I had certain choices to make to amend my mistakes but I know that when it came to making a decision, a choice — I always made the right choice,” she asserts.

As she readies to give one more shot of her soap Ladies Special, Neena says that she feels ignored and cheated by people whom she trusted blindfolded.

“I feel cheated by people who advised me regarding my professional life. I remember taking up this game show (Kamzor Kadi Kaun) and I gave it my best shot. But I was never advised properly. There are so many similar instances. Now, when I have a concept of a TV serial and ready to produce it — none of the channels are picking it up because it has a forty-year-old woman as a glamorous protagonist. They all say, ‘the story is great but let’s make this character younger’. There is a lot of reservation in this industry to try out new things,” she sighs.
