Jewellery designer Jade Jagger has well proved her mettle in her profession. Still, being the daughter of Mick Jagger, music’s enfante terrible, of The Rolling Stones band, is bound to rouse curiosity about her life. Jade stands on solid grounds when it comes to relationships, unlike her father who’s been linked to countless beauties, true to the rock ’n roll image. Jade is, in fact, in the happiest space at the moment. She reveals emphatically, “I am so happy to be madly in love and getting married later this year, so for me this will be the year of bliss and everlasting happiness.” Reportedly, her beau DJ Adrian Fillary proposed to her in India last month, after asking Mick for his daughter’s hand.

Jade, who was in Mumbai recently for a trunk show of her jewellery collection at Le Mill, admits that having been surrounded by creative people like her father, actor-mom Bianca, mum’s friend Andy Warhol helped. “Growing up surrounded by such inspiring people has been a massive influence on me. Sometimes perhaps it is a lot to live up to, but it certainly was an exciting childhood — from peeing on Andy Warhol’s painting, to getting my first mix-tapes from Steve Rubell of Studio 54. It gave me the drive to create the best work that I could to make my mentors proud,” she says.

Interestingly, Jade’s India connection reflects in her new collection that has a range using Rudraksh. “I have always been drawn to the sacred Rudraksh bead and the spirituality that surrounds it. I love to mix textures, combining rough semi-precious stones like garnet, labradorite and lapis,” informs Jade, who started her career 16 years ago as a decorative artist. Her pieces at the show included animal items, emerald beads fused with rubies, apart from her Rudraksh collection.

Jade’s love for India shows when she says, “I spend a great deal of time here, between Jaipur where I produce most of my designs, and Goa where I have a house on the beach to do my design work.”Apparently, her marriage is also set to take place in Goa, her most favourite destination.
