After wowing the audiences of Kollywood in her role as a village girl in the film Kalavani, actor Oviya is excited about being signed up for re-enacting the same in its Kannada and Telugu versions. Titled Kirataka, the Kannada  film is directed by Pradeep Raja and will feature Yash in the lead role too.

“We’re almost through with the Kirataka and I can safely say that director Pradeep has made slight changes to the script which I think will work great with the Kannada audiences. Another addition is a song shot in the rain, which was not part of the original version,” she informs.

Of her co-stars, Vimal (who played the lead in the original version) and Yash, Oviya gushes, “I think both played their parts with utmost ease and confidence. Vimal added a certain style and attitude to the role, while I found Yash to be a hard worker, who has brought in his best for the character.”

While Kirataka is all set for release, Oviya is looking forward to acting out the same role opposite Nikhil in the film’s Telugu version. “Acting out the same role again and again has actually proved to be a rather interesting experience. And with two versions out of the way, one could say that my performance has only been getting better with each of them,” she says.

However, the various version of this film is not the only thing that is keeping this actor busy. She’s just seen a release with

Manmadhan Ambu, which paved her way into controversy of a different kind. “I don’t regret being a part of Manmadhan Ambu as I got the opportunity to work with Kamal Haasan, R Madhavan and KS Ravikumar. However, my role was cut short. Initially, I was a little upset. But after the team explained that the cuts where due to technical reasons, I was okay with it,” informs Oviya.

Meanwhile, Oviya’s next Tamil film, Muthukku Muthaaga, sees her play the role of a basketball player. “This movie will portray me in a rather different avatar. It is a different family entertainer that is sure to rank as one of the best movies,” she signs off.
