Actor Randeep Hooda says his upcoming period drama Rang Rasiya is a passionate love story. Randeep, who plays the role of a painter inspired by legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma in the film, said he had no inhibitions while shooting intimate scenes with co-star Nandana Sen.

"Rang Rasiya' is a passionate love story. I did intimate scenes in the past too. Sexuality is an important aspect of our life and with that if we get to know someone like Raja Ravi Varma there is no harm in that. He was a patriotic person and also a colourful," Randeep said in an interview.

The 38-year-old actor said despite director Ketan Mehta's detailed script, he took painting classes to portray the role of an artist. "Ketan did a lot of research for the film. So, my work was easier and he beautifully mentioned the emotional reference in the script. As an actor I decorated the tangible thing. I didn't want to come across as an amateur painter so I took some training from a painter, who was there with me on the set," he said.

The film is facing legal trouble from Varma's grand daughter Indiradevi Kunjama, who has accused the makers of portraying the artist as a womaniser and calling it a true story.

The producers have now attached a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie. "This film is a dramatized version of the novel Raja Ravi Varma by Ranjit Desai. It is not anybody's true life story. All characters shown in this film are fictional and do not have any resemblance to anyone dead or alive," the disclaimer reads.
