Her last outing at the box-office Mod failed to draw eyeballs and Ayesha Takia is making sure that her next appearance gets noticed. She has decided to take a break from films and is all set to make her small-screen debut as a host with the music reality show Sur-Kshetra. “I am excited about this show because for the first time I will be playing myself on the screen. Also, the fact the show has legends like Abida Parveen, Runa Laila and Asha Bhosle on the jury played a huge part in my decision to take it up,” says Ayesha.

Ask Ayesha if she likes to sing and she laughs saying, “I am a terrible singer. At best I am a bathroom singer. Between me and my sister, she is the better one. The moment I start humming, my sister screams at me to stop.” However, Ayesha has no qualms shaking a leg, which she has done with the contestants on the show. “That’s something anyone can do,” she quips but is impressed with actor Sonakshi Sinha’s dance number Go Go Govinda which she says is masaledaar.

As for her film career, Ayesha says that at this point she wants to take it easy and concentrate on her restaurant business . “I have been working since the age of 15 and frankly, I have never been very ambitious,” she reveals. The actor, who has won rave reviews for her performance in films like Dor has also had her share of  glam outings in masala entertainers like Wanted. “I have been lucky to strike a  balance between the off-beat and commercial films,” says Ayesha, who is now looking forward to her tryst on the small-screen.
