Actor Saqib Saleem is kicked about his next film, an adaptation of Hollywood horror movie "Oculus", which will see him sharing a tumultuous onscreen relationship with sister Huma Qureshi.
The brother-sister duo is working together in a Bollywood movie for the first time in the Prawaal Raman-directed movie. The yet-untitled movie, like the original, focuses on the story of a brother-sister, who get separated at a young age due to an antique mirror.
"I am very excited for 'Oculus' because it is the first time Huma and I will be working together. We keep talking about the movie all the time, have similar likings and finally we are coming together. Our relationship, however, is not a typical one in the film.
"We share an awkward sibling relationship, totally different from how we are in real life. In the film our characters detest each other, even though there is a lot of love between the two. The relationship is intense and aggressive," Saqib told PTI.
The 26-year-old "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" star will play the younger sibling, who is sent to a juvenile home and spends 12 years there. Saqib has stationed himself in Delhi for some time to attend workshops to get into the skin of his role and he also plans to visit juvenile homes in the city to bring authenticity to his performance.
"I play the role of a guy who spends years in a juvenile home, as a loner with no access to the outside world. So, I want to be locked up inside my home and just go for workshops and prepare for the character because I want to explore the other side of life, which is different from what I lead in Mumbai," he said.
The actor said he would rather call the project a psychological thriller than put it in the horror genre. "Honestly, we don't have good horror films. But I am hopeful this film will work because of the content.
I would rather call it a psychological-thriller than pure horror because there are no ghosts in the movie but supernatural elements," he said. The film's shoot will begin this May with London as the primary location.
