There’s more good news for Bebo — she’s won the Smita Patil Memorial Award

Kareena Kapoor, who has just returned from a two week long holiday in Europe, is flying high these days. And why not! The granddaughter of Raj Kapoor has been chosen to receive the biennial Smita Patil Memorial Award for her contribution to the Indian Film Industry. The announcement was made by Priyadarshini Academy chairman Nanik Rupani.

Beams Kareena, “I’m humbled and truly, truly happy. All the hard work has paid off… I’m on top of the world.” Vilasrao Deshmukh will be the chief guest at the award ceremony to be held on September 19 in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Kareena is also gung ho about dancing to the song immortalised by dancing diva Helen.  In the original song, picturised on Helen, she tries to seduce Amitabh Bachchan to the tune of ‘Ye mera dil’ in director Chandra Barot’s ‘Don.’ Director Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ will have Kareena Kapoor making her moves to the same song for the don of today Shah Rukh.

About her experience Kareena adds, “It’s been the best experience of my life. The song is now mine. I just can’t believe it. It’s a legendary track and dancing to it with SRK has been an absolute dream come true. ‘Yeh mera dil’ will be an enriching part of my career.”

T-Series has produced the music for ‘Don’ while this song has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The original score by Kalyanji Anandji has been reworked by Shankar Ehsan Loy.
