Proposing marriage is one of the most romantic moments in people's lives, and they usually pull out all the stops within their means for it. That being said of common folks. But what about celebs? They're not ordinary folks and so their proposals are expected to be nothing short of jaw-dropping! They're famous, dirt rich and are some of the most powerful persons on the earth and so, expecting them to make an extraordinary proposal is not asking too much! We did a round up of some of the most exquisite marriage proposals:

Martina Navratilova and Julia Lemigova
This former women's tennis champion couldn't come up with a more appropriate place to pop the big question to her girlfriend last week. Read: At the US Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City. Martina Navratilova got down on one knee and proposed to her partner Julia Lemigova on the big screen of the stadium, much to the delight of the cheering crowd. After the deed, Navratilova said, "I have been waiting for the right time to ask Julia to marry me. I thought this was the right place and the right time to pop the question and thankfully I got a 'yes'." Well Martina, you aced this one.

Seal and Heidi Kloom
This couple sadly separated after almost seven years of marriage. However, singer Seal's proposal to supermodel girlfriend Heidi Kloom can be easily called the stuff of legends. In December 2004, Seal got an igloo built atop a glacier at around a height of 14,000 feet near Whistler, British Columbia. As if this weren't jaw-dropping enough, he put the cherry on the icing by stocking the igloo with rose petals, candles, champagne and a fancy bed.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
Tom Cruise's marriage proposal to Katie Holmes seems somewhat tame in comparison to him declaring his love for her on The Oprah Winfrey Show, jumping up and down on the hostess' couch in May 2005. But still, we're sure his proposing style will still make women go weak in the knees. The 52-year-old actor proposed his girlfriend below the most romantic place on earth, The Eiffel Tower in Paris. He later arranged a candlelight dinner at the Michelin starred Le Jules Verne restaurant located on second floor of the tower. Too bad the couple has separated admist ugly spats.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carrey
If you are going to propose marriage to one of the biggest selling songstress's in music, you will have to surely put out all the stops. And Nick Cannon just knew how to get his diva to say yes to him. In 2008, first, Nick proposed to Mariah on top of a building in New York, where he gave her a candy ring with a real ring insidet. And now comes the romantic gesture. Nick took his lady love on a helicopter ride around the Empire State Building and he proposed to her once again.

David Arquette and Courtney Cox
The baby faced actor proposed his girlfriend in a simple yet very romantic way. For this, Arquette had planned and choreographed his proposal in a timely manner. The couple walked on a beach in Florida and as they walked, he stopped and pulled out a ring, and lo behold! There were fireworks in the sky. Perfect timing! Too bad this couple too, are no longer together.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Since Brad Pitt was going to propose the sexiest woman on earth, he had to nothing short of bring the moon to her, well almost. Also, during Angelina's previous marriage to now ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, they wore blood vials (containing each other's blood) around their necks. Pitt did something no woman in the world could say no to! In 2012, he got together their six adopted children, and let the drum roll... gave a stunning 16-carat diamond ring, whose estimated price is around $300,000.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian
Kanye West proposed his gilfriend Kim Kardashian earlier this year on an episode on Keeping Up With The Kardsahians. Kanye got it all planned having a 50-piece orchestra playing, having candles lit up, and having the couple's near and dear ones hiding in the dugouts of the San Francisco Giants' baseball stadium watching the incident unfolding. The music mogul got down on his knee, asked her to marry him and gave her a 15-carat diamond ring.
