While it is not nearly as famous as Jhumri Tallaiyya, the quaint little town of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan happens to be home to the “World’s best University for PhD”. If that isn’t good enough for you, perhaps you could consider opting for a DLitt, which is a higher degree. Started in 2009, the Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University — quite a mouthful really — is now gearing up for it’s second convocation ceremony which will also see the launch of chancellor Dr Vinod Tibrewala’s new book How To Make A New India. But there’s more to look forward to — the launch of a book of poems by Sumita Keshwa thoughtfully christened Chaay ki Chuskiyon Mein Tum.

Unfortunately, these literary gems may lose some of their sparkle for the audience because of the presence of Bollywood’s luminous Dream Girl Hema Malini. We hear that Hema and Esha Deol will be bestowed a DLitt honoris causa each by the university at a glittering function that’s been relocated to Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle for the sake of convenience. Do we congratulate Hema or applaud the university?
