This one's for Kangana
Deepika Padukone received the award for Best Actor Female Popular Choice (Happy New Year) The beauty accepted the award gracefully but was quick to dedicate it to Queen fame Kangana Ranaut. "Thank you for this award but I really believe this year belonged to Kangana. So Kangana, this one's for you."
PS: The clutch she was holding on the red carpet was gifter to her by boyfriend Ranveer on her birthday recently.

When SRK was addressed as bhai
Shah Rukh Khan bagged the award in Best Actor Popular Choice for Happy New Year. When he went on the stage to receive it, Karan Johar went on to say, "Congrats bhai.' KJo has always addressed SRK as bhai, but Bollywood's bhai happens to be Salman.

Like mother, like son
"I'm happy to receive the best jodi award. This is probably the first and the last time a mother-son jodi is being awarded," said Shahid Kapoor as he accepted the Screen Best Jodi award with Tabu for Haider. It was refreshing to see the couple being recognised for its brilliance. SRK being his usual witty self cracked us up when he told Tabu, "I don't have a mother, why don't you come over sometime to show me your 'mamta!"

Actresses avoid animosity by sitting together
Yes for the rarest of times, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra shared the same row. Not that they are rivals from wrong ends but it was a good sight to see contemporaries getting candid together, minus the animosity!

Deepika's mysterious bonding with Shahid Kapoor
Now who would have thought of that? Deepika was spotted sitting with Shahid Kapoor, throughout the award ceremony. In fact, even while other actors like Priyanka, Alia were seen shuffling places in between, Dippy and Sasha stuck to their own place and enjoyed this new found bonding! Quite a story no?

Promotions, promotions, promotions!
The whole function was timely interrupted by film promotions. It started with Gurmeet Choudhary, Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi's Khamoshiyan. Then we had Aayushman Khurrana stepping up in his Hawaaizaada avatar followed by Sonam Kapoor bringing up her entire team of Dolly Ki Doli. Varun Dhawan performed his jig and he too didn't refrain from adding his Badlapur touch by masking his Raghu character from the film!
