BAYWATCH just teased us with a glimpse of Priyanka Chopra as baddie Victoria Leeds, and we can't wait to see more
Paramount Pictures’ Baywatch will now release on Memorial Day weekend, 26th May, 2017. A sneak peek teaser of the much anticipated summer release has just released, but Priyanka Chopra fans will have to wait with bated breath before their first real introduction to the mean villainess Victoria Leeds.
The Sneak peek introducing the lifeguard squad, is the first of many upcoming teasers to be released by the studio introducing audiences to the world of Baywatch and the many layers of the plot, all leading up to the official trailer launch in early 2017.
The two and half minute teaser launched on Thursday barely had Priyanka in a shot, which lasts just about a second. Fans were disappointed to see that PC hadn't got a prominent place in the teaser. But there's a big reason behind this move. An insider source reveals, "Priyanka's the main villain, she's the boss who owns the beach. She has got a dynamic character, which is villainous from the word go. And she's aced it. But the makers don't want to give it out just right now. The big reveal about Priyanka's character will happen more in the trailer and the subsequence teasers that will follow. So there's a lot to come. Priyanka fans need not be upset."
Making bad look so good, Priyanka essays the role of Baywatch's anti-hero in the film, Victoria Leeds. Priyanka’s last [award winning] performance as a villain was in 7 Khoon Maaf, for which she earned the Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Critics. Priyanka also won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Villainess role, and the Screen Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for her portrayal as the villainess in the 2004 film, Aitraaz.
Says a source close to the studio, "Priyanka Chopra has taken the West by storm and her role as the villaness Victoria Leeds has already created a stir with audiences who are looking forward to seeing her in a new avatar. The multi-layered launch campaign will sequentially introduce the key characters of the film in a series of trailers, and the first look will be flagged off by an introduction to the ‘Lifeguard Squad’s’ star lifeguards, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron. With 2 posters and a few behind the scenes videos that have been shared on social media, the feedback and reaction has been phenomenal and the anticipation for the film is at fever pitch. We have a long way to go until May 26th, so get ready."
