Has Kareena Kapoor lost her title as the 'Queen of Bollywood'?

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Cameron Diaz - both of these ladies have done some amazing work in their careers, both critically and commercially. Each of them have played at least one character for which they will be remembered forever. Kareena's role in 'Jab We Met' and Cameron's in "There's Something About Mary" are two such roles.

While both of them have crossed their prime age, Cameron's popularity hasn't decreased one bit while Kareena has lost her "reigning queen of B-Town" title to the fresh faces like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt.  Bollywood actresses lose fame after they reach their prime age while on the other hand Hollywood actresses like Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet and Sandra Bullock are still starring in various Hollywood blockbusters.

 

However there are many other actresses out there that still who have made their mark in Bollywood and continue to do so today.

Vidya Balan


Struggle and film debut (2000–04) 
Vidya appeared in approximately sixty television commercials and in music videos for Euphoria and Shubha Mudgal. In 2003, she was signed on by Goutam Halder for his independent Bengali drama Bhalo Theko; her first film release.Her portrayal of Anandi, a young woman reminiscing about her past, won her an Anandalok Purashkar for Best Actress.

Breakthrough (2005–08)
In 2005 Vidya made her Hindi film debut with Pradeep Sarkar's musical drama Parineeta and then starred in  Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Guru, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love,  Eklavya: The Royal Guard and many other. 

Rise to prominence (2009–12)
In 2009 Vidya played the role of an unwed gynecologist struggling with her 12-year-old son's Progeria Syndrome, in the R. Balki directed dramedy 'Paa'. Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Vidya's son and Abhishek Bachchan played the titular character. A critical and commercial success, the film has been described as a major turning point in her career. She still continues to star in various movies. 

Vidya's next appearance was in Ekta Kapoor's production The Dirty Picture, this film was based on the life and death of the controversial Indian actress Silk Smitha. Vidya was cast as Silk.She described the role as the "boldest" she had ever played and to look the part, she gained 12 kilograms.Vidya won a second Filmfare Award, a third consecutive Screen Award, and a National Film Award for Best Actress.


In 2012, vidya starred as Vidya Bagchi,a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani (2012). The thriller eas set in the city of Kolkata. itemerged as a major hit.Vidya won a fourth consecutive Best Actress Award at Screen and a third Best Actress Award at Filmfare.

Madhuri Dixit


1984–87 Early roles
She made her acting debut in Rajshri Productions' movie Abodh in 1984 opposite the Bengali actor, Tapas Paul.In 1986, Dixit starred in two movies, Swati and Manav Hatya but both films flopped at the box office.
1988–89 Breakthrough
The lead female role of Mohini in N. Chandra's blockbuster Tezaab opposite Anil Kapoor was a breakthrough for her and then she starred in movies like  Ram Lakhan, Prem Pratigyaa and Tridev. She then starred in many blockbuster films.

In 2007 her come back movie  Aaja Nachle earned her the record-setting thirteenth nomination for the Filmfare Best Actress Award.

She also reciver a Flimfare Special Award in honour of her 25years in the Bollywood industry.

In 2012, Madhuri Dixit unveiled her saute at Madame Tussauds London.
