Suits, lawyer drama on the American television has a huge following in India too. Harvey Specter and Mike Ross quote movie dialogues at each other and fans in India quote them. Gabriel Macht wears the suits and the character of Harvey Specter like second skin. A handsome man and a talented actor, Macht talked about season 6 of the series that finished with a cliffhanger before going on its mid-season break.

Edited excerpts from the interview:

1. Season 4 & 5 saw Harvey and Mike getting cornered every single time. Their moves to trump others were just not enough. Do you think Mike being in prison will finally give the boys a chance to knock out all the blackmailers?

It does feel like Harvey often faces these unsurmountable challenges and season 6 puts us in some familiar situations. Harvey has a hard time trying to figure out how to free Mike from prison. Manipulations occur and there are some things that Harvey does, as far as representing people he would never normally want to work with, in order to get Mike out. So we’ll see at the end of the season how that concludes.

2. Harvey is the alpha male. But he has been falling apart dealing with anxiety. Will season 6 see him come back to 'playing the man' and get Pearson Specter Litt back on track?

If anything, season 6 starts with them being completely off track. We see Harvey’s anger and frustration with Mike being in prison, and there are instances (when he’s trying to get Mike out) where his anxiety peeks through. Slowly but surely though, he starts rebuilding his client list and doing whatever’s necessary to get Pearson Specter Litt back on track.

3. What does Mike's absence mean for Harvey?

Donna is Harvey’s 'right-hand man' and he can’t live, work or do anything without her help, but he misses having Mike around. Harvey sees him as an excellent lawyer and someone who can think outside of the box and he feels incredibly guilty that he went to prison. But we see Mike and Harvey work together to try and figure out a way to get Mike out. (Now that they're successful) we’ll see how that dynamic changes and how they work together in the future.

4. Will you be directing this season? According to you, what is the best thing about getting behind the camera?

Yes, I directed episode 8. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the actors, designers and the crew. I believe that directing is the most collaborative role on set and I can’t wait to do it again. I find that if you can put your stamp on it, but can still make the show look like the show, that’s when you’ve succeeded.

5. What one piece of advice will Harvey Spectre give to Gabriel Macht and vice versa.

When Gabriel is feeling down or anxious about something, Harvey would probably say: “Get your shit together and pull through.”

If Harvey was feeling anxious or fearful, Gabriel would probably say to him: “Instead of instinctively responding to a situation in a way that may be aggressive, take a few breaths… walk out of the room for a bit, walk back in and respond calmly and peacefully.”

Suits season 6 mid-season finale is all set to air on Saturday, September 17 at 10 pm on Comedy Central.
