Bollywood actress Gul Panag, who tied the knot with her childhood friend Rishi Attari in a low-key ceremony, opted to zip away with her groom in a motorbike instead of the traditional doli.

The 32-year-old Panag, dressed in all her wedding finery, sat in a side-car attached to the Royal Enfield 'Bullet' bike, which Attari was driving, soon after they married at a Gurudwara in Panchkula, Haryana, near here.

The traditional Punjabi wedding, which was attended by family members and close friends, was solemnised as per the Sikh rituals at the Sector 12 Gurudwara of Panchkula yesterday. The reception was held later in a hotel in Sector 5, Panchkula.

Attari, Panag's longtime friend and employed with a private airline and settled in New Delhi, arrived on the motorcycle, with the bride seated in the side-car. The marriage procession comprised a cavalcade of Enfields being driven by family and friends including women.

An avid biker herself, Panag recently drove one in her last movie, Turning 30.

"It was Gul's idea as she wanted to do something different for her wedding," a relative of the Chandigarh-born actress said.

The newly weds also danced to the beats of dhol and popular Punjabi numbers.

Panag, who was crowned Miss India in 1999, was clad in a JJ Valaya-designed embroidered pink lehenga while Attari wore an off-white sherwani for the occasion.

The actress is known for her performances in movies like Dor, Dhoop, Manorama Six Feet Under and Turning 30.
