West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan on Friday mourned the death of veteran actress Suchitra Sen, saying an era has ended in Indian cinema.
"I am deeply grieved to learn about the sad demise of Smt Suchitra Sen, the most popular actress of Bengali cinema, and acclaimed as the 'Greata Garbo' of the Indian screen," Narayanan said in a statement.
He said her acting cast a spell on everyone of her vast screen following.
With her death, an era has ended in Indian cinema, the Governor said, adding, "I convey my heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family and innumerable admirers."
