Salman Khan's appointment as the Goodwill Ambassador for Rio Olympics 2016 has sparked a huge controversy. Many people have strongly objected to the move while many industry people have also welcomed it.

As soon as the news broke out, wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt and Milkha Singh slammed the development and expressed their displeasure over Salman's appointment as the ambassador. His dad Salim Khan slammed Milkha Singh and soon, there was a huge controversy that started.

Amid all this, there's one person who has indirectly pledged her support for Salman. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan! Don't believe us? Well, even we didn't initially but at an event to launch a new product, Aishwarya was asked about the issue and she gave a fitting answer.

Aishwarya said, "Anybody who is doing good to represent the country and anybody who is working or seeking or standing out for whatever vocation we have in the country be it sports, arts or music, I think that’s wonderful and needs to be recognised."

For someone who has had a troubled past history with Salman, it was surprising that Aishwarya actually stood in Sallu's favour. The two had dated years back and their relationship had grabbed headlines after the actress accused Salman of physical abuse and even threatening her. Although it's been years to the incident, the wounds have not healed. But given that Aishwarya, despite making a very general statement, has now spoken in Salman's favour, we are happy that it has happened. Finally!
