It’s not that they don’t know. Also, not that they are extra careful when the shutterbugs are clicking. But the list of actresses caught without their inner wear is growing by the day. Well yes, some of them have denied going commando but they remain a toast for netizens for ages.

The first one who was caught apparently trying the commando tactic was actress Shamita Shetty in June 2007 showing a little bit too much.

“It was like an explosion in those days and earned Shamita a mention in most of the leading tabloids of the world, courtesy the new-found fame of her sister and actress Shilpa Shetty. Shamita never issued a clarification neither did she react to the picture circulating widely in the internet. It was a freelance photo journalist working for a reputed media organisation who got the pic and then leaked it out,” says a friend of the actress.

But nothing can beat actress Yana Gupta incident. After being caught without a panty, she not only made fun of it but reacted to the incident as if nothing has happened.

“I used to be called the item girl and now you will call me the ‘pantyless girl’,” Gupta had said unflinchingly. More recently it was former Bollywood actress Preeti Jhangiani who too was photographed apparently without her essentials at her own film event.

Though some called it a publicity gimmick, there was nothing forthcoming from Jhangiani’s side except for the fact that she was wearing long, printed leggings in the premiere of her film. In all the above cases, the pictures were such that these two couldn’t deny that they weren’t wearing any. But then there were some which fell into the ‘Is it? Or isn’t?’ category which got prompted denials from the actors.

Actresses in this list such as Sonali Bendre, Neetu Chandra, who threatened legal action against the media for circulating the rumour.

Still, it didn’t stop the netizens for discussing the “bare truth” “threadbare”.
