'Game of Thrones' stars gain half-a-mln hike in paychecks

'Game of Thrones' stars have gained half a million hike in their paychecks, it has been revealed.

Many cast members have received increases of as much as 127,000 pounds a show in new contract deals that will last through season five, which due to start airing in April and season six the following year, the Daily Star reported.

However, majority of actors and actresses have such small salary hikes that some claim "they are being treated like "paupers" by American network giant HBO".

According to trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has divided Game of Thrones' huge ensemble cast into three different tiers according to their "star status" and rewarded them accordingly, where Tier A includes Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who will all earn between 200,000 dollars.

Tier B performers, on between 20,000 dollars and 150,000 per show, include Natalie Dormer, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.

Tier C includes every other actor and actress aside from extras, who are paid a daily union rate to appear on the show, which is mainly filmed in Northern Ireland and picked up a virtually unheard of 19 Emmy nominations earlier this year and will take home less than 10,000 dollars-a-show.

According to sources, the vast majority of cast members, who are not in the top two tiers, are really seething and feel that life is imitating art and they're being treated like paupers and peasants while those in the royal and other major roles are being feted like real blue bloods.
