Game of Thrones showrunners have decided on how many episodes will be there in season eight of the show even before we got a glimpse of season seven.

Producers David Benioff and DB Weiss were part of a panel discussion with Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner at South by Southwest Festival. The producer duo said that the last season of the medieval fantasy show will have only six episodes. They said that they always wanted to tell a 70-hour movie. "It will turn out to be a 73-hour movie, but it’s stayed relatively the same of having the beginning, middle and now we’re coming to the end," said Benioff.

Benioff said that they are happy that all the core cast members have made it until the end of the show, reports Entertainment Weekly. He also revealed that the writer-producers are working on the final season and have already argued over who gets to kill Sansa.

Season eight writing credits will be Dave Hill for episode one and Bryan Cogman for episode two. Benioff and Weiss will finish the final four episodes.

When asked about the spin-off series of Game of Thrones, the producers said that they will not be involved with that show in any capacity. They said that HBO should get new blood in and Benioff will look forward to watching it.

Williams and Turner asked the showrunner that if possible which character they would like to bring back to life. The producers picked Michelle Fairley who played Catelyn Stark on the show and Jack Gleeson who played the notorious Joffrey Baratheon.

The show will return to small screen on July 16 for its latest season
