'Frozen' claims top spot as biggest selling album of 2014

The soundtrack for Disney's Oscar winning film Frozen sold 10 million copies last year, becoming the biggest selling album for the year 2014.

According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the album, whose sale was nearly 4 million more than Taylor Swift's album 1989, comes with complete with two different versions of the hit song 'Let It Go,' with Idina Menzel's version of the song becoming 5th biggest selling single of the year, the Mirror reported.



It made $1.3 billion at the global box office and generated a massive merchandising revenue stream.

Pharrell William's single 'Happy' claimed the year's biggest selling song title by selling 13.9 million copies, beating Katy Perry's 'Dark Horse' which sold 13.2 million.

The top 5 albums for the 2014 are: Frozen with 10 million copies sold, Swift's 1989 with 6 million copies sold, x by Ed Sheeran which sold 4.4 million copies, Ghost Stories by Coldplay with 3.7 million copies sold and 'In the Lonely Hour' by Sam Smith with 3.5 million copies sold.
