Building a franchise is a difficult job for any producer. But if done right, that risk reaps massive rewards.

The top production houses know this and their consecutive successes have fans looking forward to each installment with great excitement. Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 3, releasing on Friday, is one such successful and beloved franchise.

Loyal fans
Apart from Housefull, Dhoom and Don are franchises that also have a massive fan following. While the third installment of the Housefull series releases on Friday, talks are already on for the follow-up to Don 2. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are both keen to move ahead with the franchise that began as a remake of the original that starred Amitabh Bachchan, with a slight twist in the tale. Aditya Chopra’s Dhoom began with John Abraham as the baddie, followed by Hrithik in the second and Aamir in the third. Speculation is rife about who takes on the mantle from Aamir. Salman Khan’s name is in the fray, but an official announcement is yet to be made.

Bigger and better
Most of these franchise movies have found a loyal audience that has ensured the movies are being made on a bigger and better scale with every sequel. With their stronghold on the box-office, fans are already expecting the makers of Housefull 3 to entertain them with yet another movie in the series in the near future. We’ll raise a toast to that.
