Former US secretaries of state Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright will appear as themselves on the season five premiere of "Madame Secretary".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the episode of the political drama television series from CBS is set to air on October 7. The trio filmed their cameos on July 11, when the show, fronted by Tea Leoni, was in its first week of production. "We're delighted to have these three former secretaries of state be part of our season premiere. It was a privilege to experience their perspectives and discourse both in and behind the scenes," said series creator and executive producer Barbara Hall.

Added executive producer Lori McCreary, "Having three powerhouses of diplomacy agree to come on our show is awe-inspiring and humbling. And that we were able to find a time in their busy schedules when they were all available is a miracle." In the episode, Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Leoni) asks Albright, Powell and Clinton for advice on a delicate matter. Albright, who was the first woman to hold the post, served as secretary of state from 1997-2001 under former POTUS Bill Clinton. She has appeared on Madam Secretary once before, guest-starring early in season two.

Powell was ex-president George W Bush's secretary of state from 2001-05. Clinton served under former president Barack Obama as secretary of state from 2009-13. All three have formerly made appearances on TV.
