Thought you had all of your body parts figured out? As women’s fashion has become more risqué over the years, it has led to an increase in flesh-flashing, giving rise to new body terms. We present you with an easy to follow guide...

Sideboob

It was barely a year or so ago that the sideboob came into focus with an endless number of celebrities flashing skin on the red carpet. The term that generally refers to a view of the female breast seen from the side; without showing any overt nudity, caught on so fast that there’s even a Twitter handle @sidebooborg that’s dedicated to keeping track of these ‘side’ spottings. From 47-year-old actress Robin Wright at the Golden Globes to Katie Holmes and Anne Hathaway at last year’s MET gala, more women are opting for sexy gowns that flaunt this asset.

Side butt

Just incase you were getting tired of women flaunting every angle of their breasts, they’ve now moved on to their lower half. The side butt often considered the new side boob refers to the skin show between the top of the (side) thigh and hip, and around the buttocks. From stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, who grabbed eyeballs with the Antonio Berardi gown with sheer side panels that she wore for a film premiere, to Jennifer Lopez and more recently Paris Hilton at the Grammys, all of these women proved their derriere looks just as good from a side view.

Thigh gap

This term refers to the visible gap between one’s upper inner thighs when standing upright with both feet touching. As bizarre as the thigh gap may sound, in the last couple of years it has become a benchmark for a woman’s attractiveness. Stars like Beyonce to models like Miranda Kerr and Cara Delevingne have made the thigh gap famous, with the hashtag trending on Twitter with regular women posting their pictures.

Underboob

This refers to the bottom part of the breasts, often exposed by a short top, cut out dress or a badly fitted bikini. While there are various ways to sport your cleavage, the underboob is often considered one of the least tasteful. Of course that hasn’t stopped celebs like Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Ke$ha and Selena Gomez from flaunting the underside of their chest. There’s also a Facebook page on the online debate between sideboob vs underboob, which one is better.

Bum slip

Last year the derriere came into further focus with celebrity women flashing their Bum Slip, the bottom part of the butt that’s often revealed when wearing too-short shorts or a mini skirt. Supermodel Kate Moss was one of the first to be seen flashing her bum when she stepped out for the Carine Roitfeld party during the Paris Fashion Week last year. Others who love to expose this body part include Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.

Butt cleavage

Who says cleavage should be restricted to the breasts? Butt cleavage is minor exposure of the bottom and the top crack, mostly seen when wearing low-waist pants or shorts. However, thanks to celebs like Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez the bottom cleavage is now considered trendy.  They’ve sported open-backed dresses that extend a bit too low leaving little to the imagination.
