Literature has always been a source of inspiration to Bollywood. From Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Devdas in 1928 to Chetan Bhagat's 2 States last year, films have been made out of famous novels and stories. The coming few months are going to see some more literary works being turned into films. Here are five of the most hyped ones:

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!
Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, this film stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. The film is an adaptation of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's novel by the same name. This is one Indian detective who has won accolades from across the globe and has been compared to the likes of Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes. Given that the original series was mind boggling, there are great expectations from this one.

Bombay Velvet
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, this film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Kay Kay Menon and Karan Johar in pivotal roles and is an adaptation of Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables. The film will show the city of Bombay in the 1960s. The film has a mystery surrounding it as nothing about the plot is yet known. It will be interesting to see Ranbir and Anushka come together for a film. Also Karan looks superb in the villainous avatar and we can't wait to see him.

Fitoor
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, this film stars Katrina Kaif, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aditya Roy Kapur and Rekha as the main cast. The film is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations. The film has been shot in Kashmir mostly. It will bring together an interesting pair of Katrina and Aditya together. Also Rekha's character looks very intriguing.

Battle For Bittora
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, this film stars Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles. The film is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's best selling novel of the same name. The film will bring together the actor-director trio once again after Khoobsurat. The film is a political thriller and it will be great to see how the director fits the novel's story in the current day political scenario.

Half Girlfriend
Directed by Mohit Suri, this film will be another Chetan Bhagat novel adaptation after Hello, 3 Idiots, Kai Po Che and 2 States. The film's principal cast hasn't been finalised yet. The romantic angle in the film is for the youth and will definitely strike a cord with them. After directing some hit films like Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, it will be interesting to see Mohit's adaptation of this novel.

There are many other novels as well which are in talks for being adapted into films. Amish Tripathi's Immortals of Meluha, Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020, Vikas Swarup's The Accidental Apprentice, Keigo Higashino's The Devotion Of Suspect X are some of them.
