The DC extended movie universe has been on a roller coaster ride with directors stepping down from their projects to movies getting panned by the critics all over the world. But a good news has finally come in, as the villain of Aquaman has been casted.

The Get Down star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has landed a role in James Wan's directorial as the villain Black Manta.

The villain first appeared in the Aquaman comic books in 1967 but his identity was only revealed in 1977.

If the filmmakers decide to go by the relaunched 2011 storyline, Aquaman and Manta will become sworn enemies because teen Manta kills Aquaman's father, which leads to Aquaman killing his father, assuming he was responsible.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been riding high with the upcoming movies he has been casted in, which include Baywatch and Fox's musical biopic The Greatest Showman On Earth.

Jason Momoa's Aquaman made a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will join the team again in upcoming Justice League movie, helmed by Zack Snyder.

The release date stated for solo Aquaman film is October 5, 2018.

Helmed by James Wan, the flick stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson.
