John Green's young adult novel Looking for Alaska will soon be adapted into a movie. Green had revealed that the book was being optioned for a film adaptation, on his popular YouTube video blog show, the Vlogbrothers. The film is now going forward with production.

The screenplay for Looking For Alaska will be written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the same writers who penned the scripts for Fox's adaptation of Green's novel Fault In Our Stars, which became a huge hit in 2014. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Green appears to have developed a close bond with writers Neustadter, Weber and production company Temple Hill after collaborating on The Fault in Our Stars. The same team is currently wrapping another Green adaptation, Paper Towns. Neustadter and Weber are also responsible for 500 Days of Summer and The Spectacular Now.

Looking for Alaska is the story of a Miles Halter, a boarding school student who gets physically and emotionally attracted to Alaska Young, a wild yet beautiful girl who is dating someone else and has a mixed relationship with Mike.

Green's debut novel Looking for Alaska hit the shelves in 2005 and won a Michael L. Printz Award in 2006. The rights to adapt the novel were acquired by Paramount Pictures in 2005. The screenplay was then going to be written by Josh Schwartz, who is the creator of Television series The O.C. However, due to unexplained reasons production was shelved. The success of film adaptation of Green's breakout novel, The Fault in Our Stars made them re-think of 'their shelf-it plan.'

Like The Fault In Our Stars, the book is famous for being both uplifting and heartbreaking. Meanwhile, Paper Towns stars Nat Wolf and Cara Delevingne and will hit theatres in US on June 5 .
