The "Fast and Furious" movie franchise is set to receive the Generation Award at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The accolade marks the first time that a film franchise will be honoured instead of an individual actor at the award show, reported Ace Showbiz.

The award will be accepted by Vin Diesel on behalf of the entire cast.

Compared to his other co-stars, Diesel has appeared in most of "Fast and Furious" movies, except 2003's "2 Fast 2 Furious".

Diesel will receive the award along with castmates Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster.

Last year's recipient of Generation Award was Will Smith.

Reese Witherspoon, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Wahlberg, Sandra Bullock, Jamie Foxx, Johnny Depp, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey were among past honorees.

MTV Movie and TV Awards will be hosted by Adam DeVine live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on May 7.
