Justin Bieber fans were in for a shock on Saturday when they read online that the teen star is gay after a message was posted on E! Online's Twitter account. The tweet read: "Exclusive: Justin Bieber to E!Online: I'm a gay."

The shocking post was followed up by what seemed like a supportive message from Selena, which read: "Exclusive: Selena Gomez tells E! she will fully supporting Justin in his coming out."

But luckily for the female fans of the teen sensation, the message posted was not true as the Twitter account of E! Online was hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA). Swinging into damage control mode, E! Online immediately suspended its account.

E! Online is the latest to join the club of high-profile Twitter accounts that have been hacked. Other accounts that have been the victim of cyber attack are McDonalds, Jeep, CBS and AP.

The SEA is also known to have messed with Anonymous in the past.

With this latest cyber attack, the SEA has has just taken its game a notch higher as E! Online has 5 million followers, which is more than twice the followers AP has.

Though the attack on E! Online does not offer much scope for damage, it definitely exposes Twitter's precarious security situation. We only hope that the situation gets better before it goes completely out of hand.
