Emraan Hashmi-Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Ungli' fails to connect with masses, has dismal opening day

Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut starrer Ungli has failed to hit the right chord with the audiences and has therefore, not been able to live up to its expectations. Despite boasting of a nice core theme and a powerful ensemble cast which also includes names like Sanjay Dutt, Randeep Hooda, Neil Bhoopalam and Angad Bedi, the film has fared badly on its opening day.

While the collections are around Rs 3 - 3.50 crore mark, the film was expected to pack in more punch, given it is a commercial film starring Emraan Hashmi. The film suffers from a shoddy second half, which doesn't bring in the necessary thrills and also lacks a certain amount of crispness in the narrative. 

But majorly, the film has faced the brunt of the low promotions and publicity by the team. Being backed by Dharma Productions, Ungli definitely could not grab the spotlight due to poor promotions and the lack of awareness around the film. The stars decided to not participate in the promotions with only Emraan taking up the baton to do his part. Randeep and Kangana decided to give Ungli promotions a miss for unknown reasons and it was only Shraddha Kapoor who still managed to spread the word, that too when she was in for just a song!
