Not a great year for comedies, but we still have some strong contenders.

Primetime Emmys are like Oscars of the small screen. Every showrunner wants one on their mantle. Even though they are coveted, just like any other award, they are also marred by irregularities, ambiguities and other controversial stuff. This is what makes them real too.
This year, a lot of TV happened. The definition of TV was already being stretched to include the streaming services like Netflix and Amazon prime. Netflix's Orange Is The New Black took the world by storm. Their House of Cards was one of the strong competitor to AMC's Breaking Bad. Netflix also left a big impact on this year's Golden Globes. Same was the case with Amazon's Transparent. After winning the Golden Globe, they are the front runner in various categories of Emmys 2015.
Comedy was overshadowed by drama this year. But there were some brilliant shows which managed to keep that grin, smile, or smirk on our faces. Among the regular suspects, Modern Family are looking for their 6th award pick up which seems unlikely given the complete sweep by Transparent at Golden Globes.
Refreshing new faces were of Tina Fey behind the screen (on screen for the goofy cameo) as a writer for Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and fellow SNL alumni Will Forte starring in The Last Man on Earth.
Now that we are talking about the comedies, let's take a look at the nominees and who will get to take that shining trophy home.
Best Actor in a Comedy
The Nominees:
Anthony Anderson for Blackish

Don Cheadle for House of Lies
Will Forte for The Last Man on Earth
Matt LeBlanc for Episodes
William H. Macy for Shameless
Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent
Winner last year - Jim Parsons for The Big Bang Theory
Who will win - Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent. It's a no brainer. The deadpan comic timing while showing the transition is the act balanced well by Tambor.

Winner last year - Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Veep
Who will win - This is once again the year of Julia Louis-Dreyfus. HBO's Veep has a good season this year. And there is really no strong competition unless as a last hurrah people give it to Amy Poehler for Parks and Recreation.
