London: Emma Thompson has slammed Hollywood for making films that target specific age groups and said that separating audiences into groups was "a mistake culturally, artistically and economically".

The 54-year-old actress told BBC Radio 4's Front Row that though her upcoming film 'The Love Punch' has a slightly older cast than a typical Hollywood blockbuster, it is aimed "to entertain everybody", the BBC reported.

She insisted that the film isn't for older people, and it would be a tragic mistake to indicate that they were making this for older people, as she finds that it's young people who seem to enjoy it just as much, if not more.

Thompson added that she doesn't see where age has to come into it, as the film has been made to entertain everybody.
