It's one of the most talked about TV show exits. Also, it's been a month since Sunil Grover walked out of Kapil Sharma's comedy show following a mid-air brawl on their way back from a live event in Melbourne. Despite the widely-reported incident had the rumour mills churning furiously, Sunil chooses not to disclose what exactly happened. He only affirms that he won't be returning to The Kapil Sharma Show even though he doesn't believe in holding grudges. He told Mumbai Mirror, "I'm here to work, not to have an argument with somebody and walk out of shows. I just want to make people laugh. Whatever happened was unfortunate, emergency landing ho gayi meri."

Grover's unceremonious exit saw three exits by co-stars Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar and Sugandha Mishra, who quit as a show of solidarity. The show ratings have dipped since, with the show dropping out of the top 10 chart for the first time. "Ratings are not in anybody's control. Even I have done a show (Mad in India on Star Plus), where the ratings didn't meet expectations. If I was good with that system, I'd be working every day and doing 10 shows," Sunil reasoned out.

Didn't it feel awkward to have missed the 100-episode celebrations of a show he had been with since its inception? Grover replied, "It did but maybe it's destiny," adding that he is aware of the fact that the audience enjoyed watching his Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi's banter with Kapil on the show. Ending to a long and successful collaboration must have felt like a big risk. "Of course the association had been successful and I think Kapil is extremely talented and I wish him luck," said the actor-comedian.

His big screen stint has also been riddled with controversies. After playing father to Shraddha Kapoor in Baaghi, Grover played the lead in Coffee with D but refused to promote it following an altercation with the film's team. Later, he took to the social media to reason, "How do I promote something I don't know what is in it. Makers had promised me to show the film, they did not. Kal Kal karte Kalyug aa Gaya (sic)."

Grover laughs recalling the episode saying, "Mujhe graha pooja karani padegi shayad. You learn from experiences like these and move on. I am open to doing more films because I'm not a comedian. It's very difficult to be one. I am an actor who makes caricatures out of characters," he asserted.

Currently, Sunil has been making appearances on other Sony shows like Indian Idol and Sabse Bada Kalakar. "The channel has been kind. Mahine mein ek aisa episode ho toh meri EMI nikal jaati hai," he said. What's on the cards next? He says, "There are offers from 10 places but there is no point talking about them till something materialises. Right now, I'm not in the state of mind to lock anything. I need to understand what I'm getting into first."
