While we all love One Direction and 5SOS, but we do get tired of listening to mainstream pop repeatedly, which will probably end up on the Billboard Hot 100. And, it is probably about a girl who probably broke someone's heart. So, here are some fresh new voices that are really good (and belong to different genres), but they are not really mainstream either.

1. The Amazons

The Amazons are one of those rock bands you really need to see live, because their stage appearance is just amazing, but they sound pretty swell on track as well.

Must listen: In My Mind, Junk Food Forever

2. Nimmo

In contrast to all the rock bands being featured here, Nimmo has more of an elctro pop style. They're a British band who have supported many good artists in the past, like Years and Years. They have some really good music, and their new songs UnYoung and My Only Friend are fan favourites.

3. Vampire Weekend

This American boy band hails from the Upper West Side, and has made better music every year they've been around. Their music may be termed 'rock' but it is completely different from the norm, especially with songs such as Step and Oxford Comma, which will definitely pull on your heartstrings. Formed in 2006, the band's first album Vampire Weekend (2008) was widely acclaimed by critics.

4. The 1975

This band is getting a lot of popularity off late, but is still underrated for the kind of music they make. They are an English rock boy band originating from Wilmslow, Cheshire and first debuted in 2013. The band members played together as teenagers in 2002. They have already won several awards for their album I Like It When You Sleep, You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It.

Must listen: Sound, Somebody Else and Chocolate

5. Escape the Fate

This is an American rock band from Las Vegas that has really come a long way since their first debut in 2004. They have made some kickass music along the way, and their whole album This War is Ours has some rocking mainstream rock, without all the screamed vocals and emo songs.

6. Baby Strange

This is an indie/rock Scottish boy band that was first formed in 2012 (but makes much better music now). The trio from north-Galsgow have been friends for years. The band seems committed on bringing their contemporary punk to the nation. They are quite famous across Scotland because of all their appearances in the UK's famous music festivals. the band, however, has been increasing their national reputation in the music industry, with the release os their 2015 single Pleasure City.

Must listen: Pleasure City, California Sun, VVV

7. HAIM

HAIM is a rock band from Los Angeles, and it might be because they are sisters but they sound amazing together. They harmonize each other perfectly, and make really great music. Some of their popular songs are Falling, The Wire, and If I Could Change Your Mind, all from the same album Days Are Gone.

8. Paramore

You might be thinking "I've heard about this one somewhere", and you probably have because of their popular song Ain't it Fun, and while this really is an amazing song, it doesn't do justice to the band because some of their other tracks are definitely going to get you hooked for a long time.

Must listen: Still Into You, and Misery Business
