Eating right is essential

Isha Koppikar ensures she supplements her workout regime with an adequate diet.

Often called a fitness freak, Isha Koppikar has always been one to not take her figure for granted. The actor, who recently ventured into the hospitality business as well says being healthy is a priority. “Balancing my acting and business commitments really needs a lot of devotion and time. So, I believe, only when you are physically fit can you be at ease mentally and emotionally. I follow a timetable and cover-up for the days I have missed my workouts due to busy schedules,” she adds.

While she does like to hit the gym often, Isha feels there are other forms of workout that are great to build every part of your body. She says indulging in indoor and outdoor sports equally contribute to a fitter body that leads to a healthy lifestyle. This in turn improves our metabolic rate. The actor practices Taekwondo, a form of martial arts and in fact possesses a black belt in the same as well. “Our body is designed to lead an active lifestyle which is any day better than a sedentary lifestyle. When you prepare to start your regime, you need to be positive and need to concentrate. When you workout, along with your body, your mental stability is also put to task,” she explains.

Eating right is extremely important for Isha and she includes a lot of oats and green tea in her diet, before and after meals. She always ensures she eats a variety of nutrient rich foods and in moderate proportions and also drinks plenty of water. She keeps trying to update her exercise regime. “I have been surfing Youtube recently and have come across some great workouts. A few are ab workouts using the simplest of equipments available at home. I feel it’s great to exercise at home on days that you cannot go to the gym,” she says.
